Cleaning and Maintenance
Revolver
-
Remove cylinder (single action) or swing out cylinder (double action)
-
General inspection of cylinder, frame and barrel
-
Run a bore snake through the barrel saturated in cleaner/solvent several times
-
Run patch until clean
-
Spray cylinder with solvent
-
Run bore snake or brush through each chamber
-
Run patch until clean
-
Wipe all solvent
-
Lubricate frame parts(hand, cylinder lock, gate)
-
Lubricate cylinder parts(ejector, ejector rod, cylinder release)
-
Reassemble. Wipe down entire firearm
-
Function check

Pistol (Semi Auto)
-
​Remove Slide from Frame
-
General inspection of slide, frame and barrel
-
Disassemble Slide (remove barrel and recoil spring)
-
Spray Slide and Frame with solvent
-
Run bore snake or brush through barrel with solvent several times
-
Use cleaning brush to remove residue from recoil spring and inside slide
-
Use cleaning brush to remove residue from frame components, barrel channel and mag well
-
Run patch until clean
-
Wipe solvent from slide, barrel and recoil spring
-
Wipe solvent from frame components and mag well
-
Apply lube to recoil spring, outside barrel and barrel link
-
Assemble slide. Lube slide rails
-
Lube frame surfaces where slide is in contact with frame
-
Attach slide to frame. Cycle Firearm
-
Wipe outside of firearm
-
Function Check

Rifle
-
Depress bolt release and remove bolt. (Bolt Action Rifle)
-
Depress take down pin, open action, remove charging handle and bolt carrier group (AR Style)
-
General Inspection
-
Spray inside receiver with solvent
-
Run a bore snake soaked in solvent or a cleaning rod with brush several times through the bore
-
Spray bolt or bolt carrier group with solvent. Clean with stiff brush over surfaces.

Brush solvent inside receiver
-
Run patch through barrel until clean
-
Clean solvent from receiver with a rag or wipes until clean
-
Wipe solvent from bolt or bolt carrier group. Inspect if extractor moves freely
-
Lubricate bolt or bolt carrier group at bolt face and cover all surfaces with a light coat of oil. If present lube charging handle.
-
Place bolt or bolt carrier back into the receiver.
-
Work the bolt back and forth to check for binding
-
Wipe outside of firearm
-
Function Check
